Last week the parish in Rollag arranged a voluntary work-evening, to fix the old cemetery by Veggli church. Volunteers from the fire brigade burned down all the old grass and vegetation in a controlled fire.You can slightly see the church through the smoke.

Your picture brought back an old memory. About 40 years ago a local church did the same thing with volunteers from the church who unfortunately did not know how to have a controlled burn. Alas, the church burned down. To every cloud there is a silver lining. My father bought the property for $50. He cleaned off the bricks and built a huge addition unto our house. He later sold the property for a nice profit. Thanks for the memory and I am glad for this church that the volunteers were firemen!!!
