Tyttebær, (accinium vitis-idaea ), cowberries , foxberry , this berry have many name. It`s a beautyful sight in the woods in autum. We make lovely jam of them , and it taste so good as a part of a real good meal of deer steak. This year with all the rain , there are lots of them. They are big and very tasty !

Old farm

Sometime I stop and wonder .... if only theese old walls could talk ! This farm was once a beautiful place. People was born there and people died there. The place was full of laughter and cry...... if only theese old walls could talk..... In many years you could no longer see the houses and the farm was hidden in the wood . The woods are gone and the old farm lies there like a ghost. ... if only theese old walls could talk....

"Crime evening"

Each summer since 2001 there has been arranged a "Middel ages week" in Rollag, and Numedal valley, where you can take part in various and exciting adventures along the entire valley. This week there is a multitude of events at different privat middel ages farms, tours and concerts in rich decorated stave churches and middel ages buildings.

Last night there was a "crime evening", where we were told old local criminal stories and legends. The picture shows the two storytellers. :o)

Blueberry

This is the best of all the wild berrys in the wood. It is lovely on pancakes, you can make bluberry wine, and it taste so good on icecream . It is full of C vitamin and at this time of year you can find lots of blueberry in norwegian woods !

Scarce copper (Lycaena virgaureae)

In Norway we call it a ; Oransjegullvinge. It has a beautiful colour and I think it looks so good on the yellow flower.

On a rainy summers day diamonds can be found in natures own jewlerybox.

Harebell

The Harebell (Campanula rotundifolia) is a short to medium, slender, hairless, rhizomatous perennial in the bellflower family Campanulaceae. In Norway we call it Blåklokke (Bluebell).

The bloming time is over. The yellow colour is gone. But still this flower is a beautiful sight .

Norwegian summer ?

Summer in Rollag has so far been cold and weet ! But bad weather can also be exiting and beautiful. This picture is taken on Vegglifjell Saturdag evening.

Oxeye daisy , (Leucanthemum vulgare) is a beautiful sight in summer.

Ranunculus acris (Meadow buttercup, Tall buttercup)

This flower is everywhere at this time of summer. It has a beautiful colore and we call it "Smørbomst" and it means "Butterflower". When we were kids we took the flower and held it under our chin. If it made our skin look yellow it was a sign who showed that we liked butter a lot. It was a kind of children play. The flower is poisen however and the horses can eat everything on a field, but they allways leave this flower behind.

Løvetann , Dandelion( Taraxacum officinale )

This beautiful yellow flower grows everywere at this time of year. We call it Løvetann and if you should translate it directly to english it would be " Lions thooth" , but the english name is Dandelion . Some think this flower is a unwanted plant in the garden, but I think it is the most beautiful of all the flowers in nature this time of year.

Saxifraga oppositifolia , Rødsildre

This little flower grow high up in the mountain and it blome almost before the snow has melted in spring. This picture was taken on Vegglifjell 1000 moh. today. It is a very small flower and you have to take a realy close look to se how beautiful it is !

Norwegian elkhound

This little puppy is moving in with us ! And next year she will be hunting elk in the woods . But until that she will only be just a qute little puppy !

May 17th - show

In the afternoon there was entertainment! It was a various show, with singers, dancers and theese majorettes (I am not sure, but I hope majorettes is the right word for this?).

Happy birthday, Norway!

Today is May 17th, the National Day of Norway. It's been a lovely day, sunny weather and lots of people in the parade.

Anemone nemorosa

Anemone hepatica

This beautiful flower is the first one who blossom in the wood in springtime. We call it "Blåveis". When snow melts this little flower with the special blue colour pops up and tells us that Spring is realy here !

Easter

Many people think this is the perfect easter-holliday. Mountain, snow, sun and skiing !

This bird travel south when winter comes. But now it`s back ! Another sign of spring.

The mountain of Veggli is beautiful in wintersun.

The winter with all the snow can be hard on the animals in the wood. But this elg-cow and her calf seemed to be in good shape and enjoyed the morning sun.

Early morning fog

Today was one of theese mornings when I am glad I live high up in the mountain . This beautiful sight met me when I drowe to work . Sunrise over the valley hidden in thick winter fog . I just had to stop and take this picture even though it made me ten minuts late for work .
